The conversion of a coastal German WWII reinforced concrete bunker in to a dwelling with a modern, single-storey flat roof extension.
The main challenge was developing a thin profiled roof structure with a living green roof finish. A key aspect of the design was the requirement for no structural elements to obstruct the sea views, which resulted in large cantilever elements. The cantilevering steel frame has been erected on site and the project is coming along well. Also included is the beautiful sectional cut through the two metre thick reinforced concrete wall of the bunker.
